How to stop Google Chrome from blocking your download

As of recently, the Google Chrome browser is automatically blocking downloads that seem 'dangerous'. Of course, our section files are no where near being dangerous! We're here to help, not to hinder :) 

So if you encounter a download being blocked, you can overcome this in either a temporary or permanent way.

The Temporary Way

This method allows only specific files that you want to download.

1. Attempt to download the file and notice the error
2. Click the three vertical dots in the top right of the Google Chrome browser window
3. Click Downloads
4. Click Keep dangerous file > Click Keep anyway
5. Open file

The Permanent Way

1. Open your Chrome browser. Click the three-dots at the top right of the window.

2. In the drop-down menu, click "Settings."

3. On the Settings page, click on the Privacy and security section and then click "Security."

4. In the Safe Browsing section, click "No protection (not recommended)" to turn the feature off.

5. Click "Turn off" in the pop-up to confirm. When you turn off Safe Browsing, you are disabling the browser's primary security tool for keeping you safe online.
